Water softener salt

Can any of you please let me know how you source your water softener salt.

For many years we purchased 10kg bags of Hydrosoft granular salt through  a third part. Then late last year they changed their source and supplied us with a German granular compressed salt. We then discoverd after a month that the granules disintegrated to form a sludge of salt powder in the bottom of the brine tank and this led to the brine uptake assembly getting clogged and blocking. We have now switched supplier and are getting hydrosoft again but at a higher price.

As the salt is put into the brine tanks in the atellite units by the nursing staff we have to have it delivered in 10kg bags directly into the plant rooms. Does anyone know of a supplier who can make deliveries like this?

Regards

Ian

Ian,

We are just about to undertake a Trust wide procurement exercise for the supply of salt for all our Trust water softening requirements, which include Renal, Endoscopy and Estates areas. Drop me an email at Daniel.Withers@uhl-tr.nhs.uk and I will keep you updated on our progress here at Leicester.

Many Thanks,

Danny.
