Integrated disinfection
Posted on:
Is anyone doing integrated disinfection of machines with water plants? We have a satelite unit with mainly 4008 machines and a Gambro CWP (heat). Has anyone tried this combination? Thanks Gareth

Integrated heat clean

Hi Gareth, Sorry I can't help with this one but we currently do integrated heats cleans on Gambro CWP's with AK's Baxter TINA and Nikkiso machines if this is of interest to anyone else. I hope soon to be doing the same with a Leaur Aquaboss RO. Regards [i:5379ce5867]Ian[/i:5379ce5867]

GARETH We have been using integrated disinfection with Gambro CWP & F 4008s at our Chorley satellite for 20 months no problems after the CWP was set for this. :?

Thanks Mark. What settings do you use on the 4008? Do they all come on together or do you stagger them? Gareth

Can someone explain were the volume of hot water comes from? It must take a considerable amount of hot water to heat disinfect all the machines in a reasonably sized renal unit.

The Gambro CWP system utilises a large holding tank of pre-heated water. As this a fixed volume and is only replenished when the system goes back on line, it can limit the number of machines being integrated with the disinfection cycle. Other systems use an in-line heater. Anybody have experience of integrating machines with these?

We are about to upgrade our Integras to enable us to disinfect the 'water inlet' part of the machine when the Elga RO plant is heat disinfecting. I need to also replace the machine hoses, can anyone recommend a supplier of hose suitable for 95C water?

Hi Simon,

I wish I could help but I have only ever found one hose that did not split and flood the place after a few months of use. This was a blue silicone hose that Baxter supplied when we purchased TINA machines from them. I doubt anyone there could help as when I tried to buy some a while back they could not help.

I have now gone away from silicone/PVC hose. With our Lauer system Kimal supplied a male self sealing connector that goes directly onto the Nikkiso machine’s water inlet regulator. The Lauer steal reinforced secondary loop goes onto this. Where we have Gambro CWP’s I had an engineering firm manufacture an adaptor so we can fit the Gambro PEX coil into the back of the Nikkiso machine. Since doing this we have never had a leak, they are bullet proof.

Simon,
Can't you use the PEX coils as recommended by Gambro (and I assume Hospal as well)?

Hi All,

The Pex coils can be used on all monitors as it has an 1/8" BSP male on each end you just need the connectors

The Gambro CWP at Ilkeston is running intergrated heat disinfections on a ward of 4008 as I think is Scunthorpe.

The Gambro  Heat CWP range has two separate programmes for heat disinfection one for the loop and one for intergrated heat disinfection of monitors this is so you can set separate leak detection limits for each and also separate time programmes(just like SKY Plus),depending on which model the internal hot water tank is 330ltrs or 460ltrs to measure this againist a Daliysis M/c the AK200S uses 5.5 ltrs and an AK200Ultra S uses 8.1 ltrs  during an intergrated heat disinfection up-take so a tank of even 330ltrs goes a long way.

I hope this has helped and I have not just rambled on

Many thanks Matt
