AK200 UF Cell
Posted on: 25/01/2010 15:21:43
Hi,   I am in need of some suggestions regarding a problem AK200 machine.   This AK200 has a 3 year ongoing problem with error FCN 4.05 015.  The flow on channel 2 is 500 ml/min +/- 2ml/min at the start of a treatment session but after 4 hours it has deteriorated to 500 +/- 6ml/min.   The machine has been serviced,ADCs calibrated, all valve membranes replaced, new UF cell, new fluid pumps & motors, new AC/DC, new DC/DC, new FM CPU, new stirrer.   The only thing left to change is the wiring loom and the Serial Number lable.   Any  suggestions from Gambro afficionados? Many thanks in anticipation, Gerry

Hi Gerry, I remember getting this problem with our old AK-100's, it was a bugger to fix and I don't think I managed to put it down to any one thing. Can't say that i've seen it with the 200 or 200S. I remember struggling to get a machine to do it in the workshop, would only fail in the unit.

You say you can see the flow go from +-2 to +- 6ml/min, have you been able to log the variance figures (SRR 34,35,36) at taration and see them go outside the limts at zero or differential flow?

A foggy memory just came back to me of replacing (or just stretching) valve actuator springs in DIVA,TAVA,ZEVA and BYVA. The theory was leakage through one of these during the taration caused a higher variance than the limit.

hope it helps

Hi Fraser,  I had forgotten about the solenoid spring trick.   I'll give that a go and see if it helps.   As far as logging, I've been logging on GXL for 4 hour sessions and you can see channel 2 variation increase during that period, while channel 1 remains stable.   Like you experienced though, it refuses to fail in the workshop.   We've now stolen the AC/DC unit from this machine so I'll need to wait for a replacement.   Hope all is well on the sunny south coast.   Regards, Gerry
